The Armenian nation, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and the AGBU-AYA have lost a devoted one, an unwavering servant of the Armenian nation, a selfless man, Artem Nanejian. We have lost a broad-minded Armenian man who believed in liberalism, one who took upon himself the duty of representing the party in various structures.

Nurtured from a young age with Armenian national spirit, under the roof of a patriotic family, Artem Nanejian attended the AGBU Yervant Demirjian School. He continued his secondary education at the AGBU Hovagimian-Manoukian Secondary School. His university studies in architecture remained incomplete due to the Lebanese civil war.

From a young age he joined the scouting movement of the AGBU-AYA Alek Manougian Center. He became a member of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and for many years held responsible positions in his club and in the Regional Board. He served numerous times as the party’s representative in various structures. Artem was a devoted and broad-minded person. Wherever there was work, there was our dear colleague. Taking responsibility was a pleasure for him. He was a balanced person and had turned good deeds into his way of life. He was not one to dwell on trivialities, but believed in the great work and its outcome. Artem possessed the rare virtue of forgiveness, and in Armenian life that virtue is always needed, considering the sometimes negative attitude of petty people toward the working man. When I visited him, we always spoke of new programs to advance our national structures. He rejoiced in the activities of our Armenian Youth movement and encouraged us.

Being a resident of the Jemmayzeh district, he was wounded in the Beirut explosion of 4 August 2020, and months later could not recover his health and fell victim to that inhuman act.

Artem Nanejian will always be remembered as a respected, balanced, modest colleague, always ready to serve. Today we have lost a noble colleague possessing these virtues. Incense and prayers to his bright memory. May the earth rest lightly upon you, dear Artem.
