At present, the situation in Syria is quite complex, because there is serious destruction in the country, and the rescue services are trying to do their utmost to bring out citizens trapped under the rubble as quickly as possible. At the same time, unfavourable weather conditions are creating difficulties, particularly in Aleppo and Latakia. This was stated by the RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Syria, Tigran Gevorgyan, in an interview given to “Hayern Aysor”.
“At this moment we have confirmed data on the deaths of two of our compatriots. They are a mother and son. The husband and daughter were under the rubble; we received news that they have been pulled out and are undergoing surgery. The RA Embassy in Damascus and the Consulate General in Aleppo have set up working groups and operational headquarters, and duty will be maintained 24 hours a day. Data are now being collected on whether there are RA citizens among the injured,” said the ambassador.
According to him, there are no Armenians among the injured in Qamishli and Kesab: “Several times a day I am in contact with the mayor of Kesab, Vazgen Chaparyan, who informed me that we have no injured among our compatriots. The Armenian Church of the Holy Mother of God has been slightly damaged. There is no serious damage.”
