Armenia recently received the latest proposals from Azerbaijan regarding the peace treaty. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this at a joint press conference in Berlin with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.
“Peace negotiations are an ongoing process, and Armenia is firmly engaged in these negotiations, and we intend to continue our active efforts in building stable and lasting peace in our region. I want to inform you that in December a meeting was planned between myself, Minister Bayramov, and Minister Lavrov.
This time it was to take place in Moscow, but due to the blockade of the Lachin corridor, the Armenian side postponed its participation, and despite this circumstance, we conveyed our new proposals on the peace treaty to the Azerbaijani side, as you quoted. And I must also inform you that a few days ago we received the latest Azerbaijani response and proposals.
I repeat, this is an ongoing process, and we continue to work on the text, exchanging proposals in several stages and continuing the discussion. It is very important to understand that although the Lachin corridor is blocked, all other challenges continue to exist; nevertheless, in essence, the negotiation process is not stalled, the negotiations continue.
Of course, I must note that the successful and smoother course of these negotiations is not at all helped, if not to say hindered, by Azerbaijan’s continuous, anti-Armenian, belligerent rhetoric, the preaching of hatred against Armenians, whether it is the Republic of Armenia or Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as aggressive actions on the ground, as they say, the continuous incursions into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, the continued occupation of our territories, and the creation of a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
In any case, I want to emphasize again that we are very determined and steadfast in the peace agenda, and we for our part will continue our active efforts for lasting peace in the region,” Mirzoyan said.
