Today we have a labor shortage problem in the labor market, and unemployment has reached its historically lowest level. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at the government’s December 1 meeting.
“We are receiving alarms from the private sector that they have a problem finding workers,” Pashinyan said.
RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan also stated in response that in the first quarter of 2022, the unemployment rate stood at 14.8 percent, decreasing by 1.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
“As of this moment, the Unified Social Service has collected 3,260 vacant job positions, and according to the Statistical Committee’s data, there are 9,800 vacant positions. We also have 50,400 registered unemployed, which has decreased by 8,000 compared to 2021,” the minister said.
Mkrtchyan also noted that in the coming 3 years, there will be a need for workers in the fields of agriculture, construction, wholesale and retail trade, information technology, transportation, and healthcare services.
