The US State Department is urging its citizens to reconsider travel to Armenia due to COVID-19. This was stated in a message published by the American diplomatic agency on 26 July.
According to it, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for Armenia due to COVID-19, indicating a high level of COVID-19 in the country.
In addition, in its message the State Department urges its citizens not to travel to Nagorno-Karabakh, due to the armed conflict.
“Casualties continue to be recorded in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ceasefire violations and occasional use of artillery systems, including landmines and mortars, result in deaths and injuries every year. Avoid roads near the ‘line of contact’ and roads near the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The US government is unable to provide emergency services to US citizens in Nagorno-Karabakh, as US government employees are restricted from traveling there,” the message stated.
