A warrant has been issued for Gurgen Khachatryan, the son of former State Revenue Committee head Gagik Khachatryan, as he has gone into hiding from the investigation, the National Security Service announced, adding that measures have been taken to locate and bring the fugitive defendant to justice.
The court had ordered Gurgen Khachatryan’s arrest, but he did not appear before law enforcement. Whether Gurgen Khachatryan, chairman of the board of directors of the “YouCom” company, has left the country or not, his lawyer Yerem Sargsyan declines to comment. As for why he is hiding from law enforcement, Khachatryan himself, in a circulated statement, has justified that the reason is the illegal and targeted actions taken against him.
The National Security Service, in an extensive communiqué regarding the criminal case concerning the Khachatryan family, has presented certain details that Khachatryan’s sons and relative, conditioned by his position, founded commercial organizations for the purpose of supplying goods to tax and customs authorities and providing services within the information technology sector. And Gagik Khachatryan himself, exploiting his official position and acting out of personal interests, supported those organizations.
