Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with US President’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, at the latter’s initiative.
As reported by the RA Prime Minister’s Office’s Department of Information and Public Relations, Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the statement made by the US President on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide anniversary, noting its pivotal significance.
The interlocutors addressed the situation created on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
According to the source, the American side deemed the actions carried out by Azerbaijani forces within Armenia’s borders unacceptable and provocative, and informed that the US position would also be presented to the Azerbaijani leadership, demanding the withdrawal of their forces from RA territory.
Advisor Sullivan highly assessed the restraint demonstrated by the Armenian side in the given situation and the steps to resolve issues not by military but by diplomatic means.
The RA Prime Minister’s Office also stated that the American side expressed its concern regarding Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of ensuring their return.
The US President’s National Security Advisor highly assessed the Armenian government’s commitment to strengthening democracy and assured that the US would continue to support Armenia in advancing the democratic agenda.
