At the start of the government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the regulation of relations with Turkey.
As reported by Armenpress, the Prime Minister noted that the President of Turkey had made a public reference to the issue of relations with Armenia.
“In those statements, we see the possibility of discussing the regulation of Armenia-Turkey relations, the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish railway and roads. And we are ready for such a discussion. In large part, the talk is about making our region a crossroads connecting the West to the East and the North to the South,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The head of government stressed that the Russian Federation has shown a public readiness to actively support this process. “The European Union, France and the United States are also interested in this process. And China’s and India’s interest in the development of communication (connectivity) projects is well known,” he said.
According to Pashinyan, peace and stability in the region are the long-term strategy of the Armenian government. “And we consider ourselves responsible for solving this problem. Peace, stability and cooperation are easily declared and desirable goals, but their realisation requires reasonable, considered, pragmatic (practical) efforts. And the Republic of Armenia is ready to make such efforts,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
