According to National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan, the referendum on constitutional changes will take place, and on April 5 citizens will cast the necessary number of votes.
It should be noted that for the constitutional change regarding the dismissal of Constitutional Court President Hrayr Tovmasyan and six other judges to be adopted, approximately 650,000 citizens’ affirmative votes are needed.
Although the pre-election campaign officially started last week, events have not yet taken place. The National Assembly president said that the campaign launch will be given at tomorrow’s fundraising evening, where the “Yes” camp will present with what slogan, song and emblem they will participate.
Incidentally, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has already published the “I Say Yes” campaign song on his Facebook page, which has also received critical assessments. However, the National Assembly president liked Hayk Stuery’s work, especially the chorus.
Asked whether he fears the referendum may not take place, and that there may not be more than 650,000 “yes” votes, Mirzoyan replied: “I do not consider such a scenario realistic. I believe that in the end the referendum will take place, and the citizens of the Republic of Armenia will give the necessary number of ‘yes’ votes in favor of the proposed change.”
