We have completed yet another significant year and are preparing to welcome 2020.
2019 was an important year for Armenia and the Armenian people, in the sense that the ideals cemented by the velvet revolution became firm convictions for the new Armenia and the Armenian people.
The landmark issue was, of course, the agenda of security along the Artsakh borders, for which the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh spared no effort and, at the cost of great sacrifices, were able to successfully defend the borders of heroic Artsakh and Armenia.
The ADL believes that thanks to concerted efforts, we must firmly preserve the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora trinity, advancing the agendas of cooperation and dialogue with national zeal and renewed vigour and energy.
As for the diaspora, it must be stated realistically that the need to strategically implement the idea of repatriation remains fundamental and among the most central of pan-Armenian priorities, in which all Armenian structures of the diaspora must be engaged.
Speaking of our beloved party and taking into account the summary activities of the Central Board over the past six months, we deem it necessary to note here that the start has been given to a time of looking toward new horizons.
The Middle East question continues to remain prominent under the alarm of Turkey’s nationalist and expansionist policy, which constitutes a serious threat to all the peoples of the region and, in particular, to the Armenians. Thus, national vigilance is more important today than ever.
Moreover, the political, economic and social crisis of the Middle East, especially of the Syrian-Armenian and Lebanese-Armenian communities, continues to be one of the issues on the pan-Armenian agenda today.
In addition to the ideas expressed above, the ADL continues to stand on the ramparts, with the same conviction, the same spirit and the same vigour, to support the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh and to strengthen our densely populated Armenian communities, which constitute the principal guarantee of national preservation.
It was only yesterday that we believed in the vision of a whole Armenia and a whole Armenian people, and today too, with greater vigour and with the principle of inspiring new generations with faith, we shall unwaveringly continue to persevere in the name of those ideals upon which the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party is anchored, whose unwavering path and spirit have, for a century now, remained contagiously connected to a large segment of our people.
An encouraging phenomenon in the pursuit of the sacred mission of national claims was the official recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States. It can be said without hesitation that this achievement was the product of years of sustained and uncompromising efforts, in which the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party also had its share.
In this regard, the importance of the responsibility and role of the Armenian political parties of the diaspora remains underscored, with the aim of pursuing national claims and continuing the struggle, having as their goal the preservation of Armenian identity, Armenian education and adherence to traditional Armenian values.
Finally, may 2020 be a new year of struggle for all of us, bringing us a little closer to our ideals and inspiring a drop of new hope and a handful of fresh faith in all those for whom there is one and only one Armenia, in all those for whom there is one and only one Armenian people, with its Armenia, its Artsakh and its diaspora spread across the world.
