Taking into account the mood prevailing in society, I have no doubt that “YES” will receive the necessary number of votes in the upcoming referendum in Armenia. This was stated on 9 March during the traditional briefing in the National Assembly by Sisak Gabrielyan, a deputy of the ruling “My Step” alliance.
The deputy noted that although he has not yet managed to carry out campaigning in the provinces, having visited Yerevan’s Fourth District and Nor Nork, he has gained the impression that almost everyone knows that a referendum will take place in Armenia. “Citizens were informed about this,” the deputy stressed.
According to him, 98 out of 100 people they met were supporters of “YES”. As the deputy of the ruling alliance noted, this inspires them with confidence that they will receive the necessary number of votes from their fellow citizens.
Let us recall that on 5 April, a referendum on one article of the Constitution has been scheduled in Armenia. The authorities have proposed the early termination of the powers of 7 and 9 members of the Constitutional Court, including the President of the Constitutional Court, as representatives of the former “regime” by their designation. In fact, all political forces, except for the ruling “My Step” alliance and the Armenian National Congress of former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, have refused to participate in this process, considering it legally vulnerable. The answer is considered affirmative not only in the case of half of those voting saying “YES”, but also of no less than a quarter of the voters included in the electoral rolls, that is, about 650 thousand people.
