The situation created after the provocations carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on 12 and 13 May in certain border sections of the Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces had not undergone any significant changes as of the morning of 19 May.
The MoD stated that in all directions where the provocation was carried out, both the territories, the Azerbaijani military personnel, and their possible supply routes continue to remain under the full control of the Armenian forces. Moreover, over the previous two days, additional units of the RA Armed Forces have been deployed in the area, completely depriving the Azerbaijanis of even the theoretical possibility of carrying out any action, leaving them, as a reasonable solution to the situation, exclusively the return to their starting positions.
Nevertheless, negotiations on the peaceful resolution of the issue are still underway. The RA Ministry of Defence is hopeful that they will yield the desired result, and the created situation will be resolved by peaceful means. At the same time, as already stated, in the absence of a solution within reasonable timeframes, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia reserve the right to resolve the issue by other means, including the use of force.
