By prior arrangement, on Tuesday, 23 October 2021 at 10:00 a.m., the delegation of the ADL Greece Regional Board, comprising Chairman Galust Rustemyan, Vice-Chairman Herman Menendyan, and Tigran Apasyan, editor of the “Hay Keank” electronic periodical, visited the RA Embassy in Athens to meet the newly appointed Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the members of the delegation conveyed their warm congratulations to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Tigran Mkrtchyan on his new mission, wishing him every success and all the best.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan, expressing his thanks for the visit, noted that his aim is to maintain contact with all circles and organisations of the community in order to achieve the best results of cooperation.

During the conversation, which continued in a warm atmosphere, the ambassador presented in detail the main achievements of his previous diplomatic post — his mission as ambassador to the Baltic countries — which covered the political, Armenian Cause pursuit, cultural and inter-state spheres, particularly with regard to the aspirations towards the homeland during the last Artsakh war.

The ADL representatives touched upon the party’s general programmes, especially the events to be held on the occasion of the centenary in the Homeland and the Diaspora, which have been temporarily suspended because of the pandemic.

Reference was made to the debilitating consequences of the party’s internal split and anti-statutory activities, noting that the Party’s Central Board, with its worldwide structures, continues its principled national stance alongside the authorities and people of the Homeland and Artsakh, believing in the work carried out towards the expansion of democracy and the welfare of society.

The ADL representatives also expressed their concern regarding the recent troubling border incidents that took place after the 44-day war, in which new human and territorial losses occurred, under the indifferent attitude of the international community.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan explained in detail the troubling border incidents that occurred, whose main cause is Azerbaijan’s aggressive and uncompromising disposition, and which are being confronted in the best possible way.

At the end of the cordial and amicable conversation, the members of the delegation emphasised the importance of the community’s unified efforts, especially in the case of national issues, and their positive disposition in that direction.
