ADL Lebanon Regional Board’s Visit to Aram I Catholicos
A delegation from the ADL Lebanon Regional Board, headed by Dr. Avedis Dakesian, member of the ADL Central Board and chairman of the Lebanon Regional Board, visited Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, at the monastery of Bikfaya on the morning of 12 September at 11 o’clock.
The delegation congratulated His Holiness on the joyous occasion of his election as president of the World Council of Churches and wished him success in this important, church-devoted office. Matters of concern to the Armenian people were also discussed, such as the challenge of reorganising the Diaspora and its practical steps, Lebanon’s political and economic conditions, and the political situation in Armenia and Artsakh.
His Holiness, for his part, presented his viewpoint. In the case of Armenia, the preservation of unity is the greatest guarantee of our success and of weathering this crisis with the least damage. His Holiness emphasised the importance of consultation among all structures of the nation, between the homeland and the diaspora, before making fateful decisions.
At the end of the meeting, the parties promised to continue communicating in order to overcome all the obstacles facing our people.
