On Friday, 14 August 2020, a delegation from the newly appointed ADL Lebanon Regional Board, headed by Avetis Dagesyan, visited Grigor Petros XX Gabroyan, Catholicos Patriarch of the House of Cilicia of the Armenian Catholic Church, at the Patriarchate in Achrafieh.
The delegation headed by Dr. Avetis Dagesyan included members of the ADL Lebanon Regional Board: Dr. Vigen Asilyan, Vigen Tosunyan, Dr. Joseph Kerpoyan and Vache Doneryan.
The delegation conveyed to His Beatitude the greetings of the ADL Central Board and its unequivocal stance in support of our people’s sons and daughters who were affected by the disaster that recently struck Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. An exchange of views took place regarding the activities of the Armenian-Lebanese Reconstruction Body. The parties stressed the necessity of extending a helping hand to the Armenian community of Lebanon, so that it may withstand these difficult conditions.
His Beatitude, for his part, stressed the importance of supporting our nation’s sons and daughters so that they may remain attached to the Lebanese homeland, which has given us so much. Therefore, we must not desert, but rather, joining hands, we must rise and support our people’s sons and daughters, to secure dignified living conditions for them. He also emphasised the point that when assistance is rendered, names should not be given, in order to preserve the dignity of every Armenian.
At the end of the meeting, the parties pledged to continue communicating, in order to overcome all the obstacles facing our people.
