The government allocated about 3.5 billion drams from the reserve fund to organize the referendum on constitutional amendments.
Predicting speculation and discussions, Pashinyan insisted that they are not appropriate. The anticipated referendum on constitutional amendments concerns ending the tenure of Hrayr Tovmasyan and six members of the Constitutional Court, and the money was allocated for that, but the Prime Minister spoke about the economic benefits of the expenditure.
“The amount spent will ultimately flow back into the economy, because economic transactions will ultimately take place with that money, and secondly, to ensure the free expression of the people’s will, yes, money must be spent. So, discussions and speculation here are not appropriate,” the Prime Minister said.
