“The anti-epidemic movement is slowly bearing fruit,” Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan announced in a Facebook post, presenting a table on the predicted and actual figures for COVID-19: on June 13 it was expected that we would cross the threshold of 20,000 infected, whereas today we have 18,033 infected.
“Despite the large absolute numbers, the epidemiological trends of the last 10 days are more positive than predicted. The cause of such trends of declining growth can only be our behaviour, the observance of simple anti-epidemic rules,” the minister wrote.
“As a result of this numerical change, we record 60 fewer deaths than predicted, meaning 60 people’s lives have been saved,” Prime Minister Pashinyan later stressed in another Facebook post, adding that the cases of infection are 3,500 fewer than predicted, thanks to people who observed the rules over the last ten days.
544 new cases of the “corona” virus were recorded in the past day, out of more than two thousand tested. In total, 18,033 people in Armenia have already been infected with COVID-19, of whom 6,714 have recovered, and 302 citizens have died, 9 of them in the past day. The youngest of yesterday’s deceased was a 42-year-old man. Another 3 citizens died from other illnesses but also had a confirmed “corona” virus.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health Alina Nikoghosyan assured that at this time there are no infected people in serious condition at home waiting to be transferred to hospital.
