The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative continues to expand the “Aurora for Artsakh” program and has issued another call for project proposals. Today, as World Humanitarian Day is observed, Aurora is pleased to announce that it has opened an office in Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh, to make its humanitarian activities on the ground more effective, to strengthen its presence in the region, and to contribute to the reinforcement of Artsakh’s position on the international stage.
Through the “Aurora for Artsakh” program, the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative is helping the people of Artsakh, who have found themselves in a severe humanitarian crisis following the 2020 Artsakh war. The program, which was initially aimed at providing urgent assistance to those affected by the war, today supports projects that promote the region’s long-term social development. Any organization working in this field and in need of assistance on the ground can submit an application.
Since the launch of the Artsakh humanitarian aid program, Aurora has allocated more than 900,000,000 Armenian drams (US $1,740,000) to support 80 projects implemented by 55 local and international partners, including the provision of immediate humanitarian assistance to the people of Artsakh through the “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund. More than 130,000 people have already benefited from these projects. The “Aurora for Artsakh” program also includes inviting the world’s leading humanitarians to the region; since the 2020 war, Yazidi activist Mirza Dinnayi and the founder of “Doctors Without Borders” Bernard Kouchner have visited Artsakh to help find new opportunities and effective solutions for the local people.
Organizations in need of material support can apply to the “Aurora for Artsakh” program; applications are accepted online until August 31, 2021. The completed application form (in Armenian or in English) should be sent to the email address [email protected]. Partners must meet the aforementioned criteria.
