As you know, Azerbaijan, ignoring the numerous calls for a cessation of armed clashes under the conditions of the pandemic, including the joint statement of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of 14 April and the statement of the UN Secretary-General of 23 March, unleashed military operations in the northeastern direction of Armenia’s border. Armenia’s armed forces could not but respond to Azerbaijan’s provocative actions. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, in his speech today, 17 July, during the regular session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council taking place in Belarus.
“Unfortunately, the provocations continue to this day, contributing to the maintenance of tension and the unpredictability of the situation.
Azerbaijan’s aggressive policy, which is aimed at exacerbating tension in the region, leads nowhere. It cannot break the determination of our people and force us to make unfounded and one-sided concessions on the issue of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. There is no military solution to the conflict, and peaceful negotiations have no alternative, which corresponds to the interests of all the peoples of our region,” Pashinyan emphasised.
