In the building at 3 Rainis Street in Yerevan, the building partially collapsed due to an explosion caused by a gas leak. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
The National Crisis Management Center received the alarm on 26 August at 07:18.
Rescue service teams of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the instructor of the Psychological Support Department were dispatched to the scene.
Two injured citizens and the body of one citizen were brought out from under the rubble. Twenty-one citizens were evacuated.
The injured were taken to the “Heratsi” No. 1 hospital complex; the condition of one of them is serious.
Also present at the scene were the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the Minister of Emergency Situations, Felix Tsolakyan.
Regarding the incident, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia noted that the collapse occurred in a four-storey building located at 1 Rainis Street in Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district.
According to preliminary data, the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. Twelve apartments in the same entrance partially collapsed.
