On September 22, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New York to participate in the work of the UN General Assembly, met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The sides discussed issues related to the privileged Armenian-French relations and the further expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
Reference was made to the humanitarian problems created as a result of the 44-day war and the prospects for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Minister Mirzoyan particularly emphasized the speedy repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian hostages held in Azerbaijan.
Both sides stressed the necessity of resuming the process of peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
