The film “I Am Not Alone,” directed by Karin Hovhannisyan, about the velvet revolution that took place in Armenia in 2018, received its tenth award, this time at the RiverRun International Film Festival.
This is noted on the film’s official Facebook page, where the jury’s assessment has also been posted.
The jury finds the film compelling, recalling the power of the best documentary production, opening the viewer’s eyes to a story people were not familiar with, and presenting it through art and craftsmanship.
“Everything begins with one man walking across the country, turning the march into a mass movement before our eyes. Watching the film is more than a passive observation of a political movement; Hovhannisyan completely immerses the viewer in the narrative, from beautiful scenes shot by drones to footage from ordinary citizens’ cell phones,” the statement notes.
According to the jury, the film is bright and inspiring; indeed, choosing a complex subject, it presents many facets of a complicated and urgent story in a captivating manner through a very well-edited narrative. “In the middle of an election year, ‘I Am Not Alone’ is a powerful reminder of the people’s strength,” the jury affirms.
