An Inquiry Committee of the National Assembly has been established to study the circumstances of the 44-day war, according to a statement signed by Hagop Arshakyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and acting Speaker.
The committee’s powers will be exercised by the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs.
The ruling Civil Contract party announced on July 26 its decision to create a committee to investigate the circumstances of the 44-day war, which will also include extra-parliamentary forces.
The proposal to create a committee had been made to the government by the Bright Armenia faction after the war. However, the authorities had not acted on the proposal of the faction led by Edmond Marukyan.
