At the initiative of the Preservation Service SNPO of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, work is being carried out to turn the area of the Berdkunk fortress of the Lchashen ancient settlement in Gegharkunik Province into a reserve, as well as to assess the possibility of reinforcing and renovating the fortress.
Discussions are underway by the SNPO’s specialists regarding the procedure and prospects of carrying out improvement works in the area encompassing the monument.
“We deem it necessary to remind our citizens that land allocations for construction, agricultural and other types of work in areas encompassing monuments, as well as construction and transport communication route projects, must be coordinated with the authorized body in the prescribed manner.
Legal and physical persons who have caused damage to monuments or their protection zones are obliged to restore them to their previous condition, and in the event of impossibility of restoration, to compensate for the damages caused, in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia,” stated the SNPO’s Facebook page.
