Levon Aronyan, the leader of Armenia’s men’s chess team, won the Bucharest rapid and blitz tournament.
According to Armenpress, following the rapid chess, the grandmasters competed in blitz chess, where Levon Aronyan and Sergey Karjakin, having collected 20 points each, determined the winner in a tie-break. The chess players played two games — the rapid game ended in a draw, while Aronyan won the blitz game.
Participating in the Bucharest Grand Chess Tour rapid and blitz tournament were Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin, Anish Giri, Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Artemiev, Le Liem, and Anton Korobov.
The tournament prize fund amounted to 150 thousand US dollars.
