The renowned Festival of Lights, titled “Miracles and Dreams,” has kicked off in Lyon, heralding the beginning of Christmas celebrations. Over the next four days, the French city’s public monuments and statues will be illuminated in the evening hours, and the streets will fill with beautiful and luminous living art and sound creations, numbering around 65.
In the period between a famous tradition and technological innovation, the Festival of Lights is a major event in Lyon, writes the Lyon correspondent of “Ramgavar Mamoul,” noting that these days, people strolling through Lyon’s streets savor the magical atmosphere and are filled with sweet emotions and poetry.
Young lighting designers create unique installations every year, which, after being presented for the first time at the Lyon festival, are also showcased around the world.
It should be noted that the tradition of the Festival of Lights dates back to December 8, 1852, when city residents placed lit candles in deep colored glass bowls, which they set in front of their home windows.
