Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation on November 1. This was announced on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The ministers discussed issues related to the progress of the implementation of the agreements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021 by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, taking into account that one year has passed since the November trilateral document on the complete ceasefire. Special attention was paid to the resolution of urgent humanitarian issues, including the return of detained persons, the provision of maps of mined areas, and the preservation of cultural and religious heritage.
The foreign ministers of the two countries “clarified their positions” on issues related to the elimination of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the unblocking of all transport and economic links in the South Caucasus, and the creation of a favorable atmosphere for regional cooperation.
The importance of the continuation of efforts aimed at the political and diplomatic settlement of border incidents between Armenia and Azerbaijan was emphasized. Current aspects of Armenian-Russian cooperation were touched upon, taking into account upcoming bilateral contacts at various levels.
