The justification for opening an embassy in Armenia has been published on the website of the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to Armenpress, this was stated in a post on his Facebook page by Tigran Balayan, Armenia’s ambassador to the Netherlands.
“Armenia is situated between Russia, Turkey and Iran, and therefore has strategic importance. After the so-called velvet revolution in April 2018, the new government is modernising the country and fighting corruption. The Netherlands can support this process. At this moment Armenia is the only country in the region where the Netherlands does not have an embassy. The House of Representatives wants to open an embassy in Yerevan as well,” the justification states.
