Nine months have passed since the death of People’s Artist of the USSR Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, yet the monument on his grave has still not been placed. The sculpture that is to be placed on the grave is almost ready.
Moreover, Dzhigarkhanyan’s relatives have begun the installation work, and the foundation is already in place. A difficulty has arisen in that the artist was buried next to his sister, and there is little space.
“We want to make a monument worthy of Dzhigarkhanyan. We plan to place the headstone ahead of the anniversary of Armen Borisovich’s death, on October 14. That is the custom, according to Armenian traditions. The foundation is already ready. But time must pass, the ground must be levelled,” Komsomolskaya Pravda quoted the actor’s friend Artur Soghomyan as saying.
The monument is the work of sculptor Vahe Soghoyan, and it is to be made of granite and bronze. The artist is to be depicted in the role of the ancient Roman philosopher Seneca, his character from his last performance.
