There will no longer be a shortage of pine trees in Yerevan. The number of pines in Yerevan sharply declined during the 1990s. Trees were being cut down en masse. As “unneeded Christmas trees,” evergreen species were the first to be destroyed.
The pine is not a Christmas tree. This tree species is an ornament to the environment and a powerful purifier of the air. In 2020, specialists of the SNCO of the Center for the Preservation of Green Spaces decided to sharply increase the number of pines in the capital. Sowing of various species of pine was carried out in the greenhouse-nursery department of the SNCO. And already the nursery has a pine grove. Specialists are now working to make the saplings slender and symmetrical.
Soon the phase of scientific studies will begin, during which it will be determined which species of pine will be grown en masse from seed. The more germinable, resilient and less demanding species of pine will pass the test. They will come into their own in approximately 5-6 years.
