The presidents of the Russian Federation and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh by phone. This was announced by the Kremlin press service.
“The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed. It was noted with satisfaction that the situation continues to remain calm, and coordinated work continues toward the implementation of the statements of the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the prime minister of Armenia of 9 November 2020 and 11 January 2021 regarding Nagorno-Karabakh.
Mutual readiness was expressed for coordination on various factors of the Karabakh settlement, including along the line of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the statement said.
According to the Élysée Palace statement, the head of the French state emphasised the need to make progress on the issues of prisoners of war, humanitarian assistance, and the preservation of cultural heritage. “The presidents of the two countries agreed to renew efforts within the framework of the Minsk Group to achieve a stable settlement of the situation, and in the coming days clear initiatives will be undertaken in that direction.”
