Work to verify data on prisoners of war is continuing. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan noted this during a government meeting, adding that work is also continuing regarding further steps for prisoner exchanges.
“Negotiations are underway with the Azerbaijani side, with the involvement of the Red Cross and the Russian side,” said Tigran Avinyan.
Speaking about those captured from Khtsaberd, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the data is being verified, and for that purpose the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, is in Artsakh. According to Avinyan, negotiations with the Azerbaijani side are also underway on this issue, and a resolution is expected in the near future.
The Artsakh Ministry of Defence announced on 16 December that the fate of 73 people in the Khtsaberd-Hin Tagher section still remains unknown. From the very first hours of the incident, with the support of Russian peacekeepers, urgent work has been carried out to clarify the fates of the servicemen as quickly as possible.
