On Friday, 29 October 2021, a meeting took place at the SDHP’s New Hadjin center among representatives of the leading bodies in Lebanon of the three Armenian political parties: the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, the Ramgavar Azadagan Party, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
The meeting addressed, for the first time, the unprecedented challenges and looming dangers confronting Armenia and the Armenian people in the wake of the 44-day Artsakh war.
The socio-economic crisis facing the Lebanese-Armenian community and the assistance being rendered in this context became the focus of general discussion. The meeting highly commended the initiatives of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, to aid the Lebanese-Armenians, as well as the solidarity shown by the Armenian world at large. Emphasis was placed on the need to continue assistance efforts through united endeavors.
The meeting also discussed Lebanon’s political situation and issues related to the upcoming parliamentary elections in that context. Regarding the domestic political situation, the participants deemed it necessary to preclude internal polarizations. The meeting considered the establishment of political and security stability as a precondition for overcoming the country’s socio-economic crisis.
The Armenian political parties decided to remain in contact through successive meetings, keeping the interests of the Lebanese-Armenian community as the main focus of attention.
