At first glance, everything is available in grocery stores in Artsakh, and people are shopping more calmly, but shortages of certain product types are already being noticed.
“There is a shortage of sugar, tobacco is also running low, we have the rest. How long it will last, how well we can meet customers’ demand, I cannot say,” one of the saleswomen, Armenuhi Poghosyan, told the Artsakh television company’s correspondent.
She said that ahead of the New Year, business owners had stocked a certain quantity of goods: “We had reserves for the New Year; that saved us in this situation.”
The shop also operates a bakery, thanks to which they have not had problems with bread: “There was a time when our workers worked 20 hours to provide the population with bread.”
While there is no problem with food and household goods, the picture is different at fruit and vegetable outlets. The stalls are mostly empty.
Vendor Vladik Atajanyan said they have nothing fresh, and almost no goods remain to sell.
