Shots were fired at the Saint Sahak and Saint Mesrop Cultural Center in Marseille.
The incident took place on 24 January at 6:40 p.m.
“This is one of the most symbolic Armenian centers. More than 250 children attend classes in the hall every week. My concern is boundless. I am confident that the government will guarantee the continuation of safe operations. We are unbreakable,” the president of the Abovyan School, Karen Khurshudyan, told Hayern Aysor.
Following the incident, the police visited and examined the scene. The bullet shattered a second-floor window, where a piano lesson was taking place. There were no casualties.
In connection with the incident, the president of the Cultural Center filed a complaint with the police.
The Cultural Center is the coordinating headquarters of Armenian organizations. During the Artsakh war, it coordinated humanitarian aid sent from Marseille and the south of the country to Armenia.
Until now, similar incidents have taken place in Berlin, San Francisco, Paris and Décines, where the statue of Komitas and the Genocide memorial were vandalized. The “Gray Wolves” Turkish extremist nationalist group, which has been dissolved in France, was involved in these actions.
