The issue of searching for servicemen missing during the Karabakh war, the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of victims is very sensitive and requires an urgent solution. This was stated by the head of the RA MFA, Ara Ayvazyan, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
“This is especially important against the background of numerous confirmed facts of barbaric treatment of prisoners of war, and not only, in the truest sense of the word. Among these issues is the issue of preserving Armenian religious and cultural sites. We hope that Russia, both as a national and as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, will promote both the resolution of these issues and the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict, which will be carried out by the further activities of the co-chairmanship institution,” the minister said.
He emphasized that, along with allied cooperation, he is ready to consider the main aspects of bilateral relations in the political, defense, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as to discuss the multilateral agenda implemented in the EAEU, CSTO and CIS, and issues of coordinating foreign policy positions in the UN, OSCE and other international organizations.
“I am confident that mutual attention to the effectiveness of the visit will contribute to the further development of allied cooperation and the strengthening of security and stability in the South Caucasus region,” Ayvazyan noted.
