These are alarming days for Lebanon and especially for the Armenians of Lebanon. The news of the terrifying, dreadful and calamitous explosion that thundered in the port of the capital, Beirut, stirred the heart of the entire Armenian nation. This devastating explosion, which came to add to the political, social and economic crisis deepening in the country for months, turned important districts of Beirut into ruins, including the Armenian quarters of Beirut that serve as the home of the Armenians of Lebanon.
Condemning what took place, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, at this fateful moment, expresses its full solidarity and support to the people of Lebanon and the Armenians of Lebanon.
The Armenian community of Lebanon, considered a fortress of the Diaspora, holds its unique place and value in the great Armenian mosaic. It was the Armenians of Lebanon who were able to become a fortress of Armenian education, the Armenian faith, as well as an ideological vision, and to play a guiding role not only for Lebanon, but for the entire Diaspora.
Today, more than ever, it is necessary that the entire Armenian nation—with Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora—stand unwaveringly and with united efforts in solidarity with the wounded Armenians of Lebanon and provide every kind of material and moral assistance, so that the Armenian colony of Lebanon may rise to its feet once again, for whose high spirit and vitality we have great esteem.
With this faith, we confidently say that the Armenians of Lebanon, despite today’s difficult situation, shall rise again, thanks to the strength of its children and thanks to the full support of Armenia and the Diaspora.
