Adam Schiff, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, has condemned Azerbaijan’s unprovoked actions against Armenia. He made the statement in a post on his Facebook page.
“I am deeply disturbed by today’s reports that Azerbaijani armed forces have attacked Armenian soldiers at the border, with reports of casualties or the unlawful capture of more than a dozen Armenian soldiers. This unprovoked attack is a direct violation of the ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and a stark reminder that the United States must do everything possible to deter Azerbaijan’s ongoing attack,” Schiff said.
He called on the U.S. State Department to act immediately, using every diplomatic channel and available leverage to prevent yet another mass humanitarian catastrophe and to demonstrate the United States’ unwavering support for the Armenian people and their sovereignty.
