Members of the National Assembly of Armenia today elected Vahagn Khachaturyan to the office of President of the Republic.
Chairman of the Counting Commission Narek Patayan announced that Khachaturyan was elected to the presidency with 71 votes in favor, 0 against, and 0 abstentions.
It should be noted that opposition deputies did not participate in the vote. This was the second attempt to elect a president of the Republic. Yesterday, on March 2, the presidential vote took place, and 81 votes were needed for Khachaturyan’s election, which had not been possible to secure.
