Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted to the Duma for ratification the protocol on making changes to the agreement on CSTO peacekeeping activity, which provides for the introduction of the concept of a “coordinating state.”
“The protocol introduces the concept of a ‘coordinating state,’ and it is envisaged that under its auspices collective peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will be created for use in UN peacekeeping operations,” the explanatory note states.
The protocol was signed on 16 September 2021 in Dushanbe.
