Armen Melikbekyan has been elected president of the Football Federation of Armenia by the delegates of the extraordinary meeting of FFA members.
Of the candidates for the FFA presidency, 13 delegates voted in favor of Armen Melikbekyan, and 7 in favor of Tovmas Grigoryan. Three ballots were declared invalid.
Of the 25 delegates to the FFA meeting, 23 took part in the election. One delegate was not present at the meeting, and one delegate did not have the appropriate identification document.
The election of the FFA president was followed by the election of the 16 members of the FFA executive committee, from among whom the vice president of the federation is to be elected upon the proposal of the FFA president.
Let us recall that on 21 November, FFA president Artur Vanetsyan and the members of the FFA executive committee resigned.
It should be noted that 3 candidates had been nominated for the post of the new FFA president: Tovmas Grigoryan, Armen Melikbekyan and Khoren Hovhannisyan. The latter, however, had recently submitted a notice to withdraw his candidacy.
