The Canadian company Alamos Gold Inc. has filed a claim of more than $1 billion against Turkey over its treatment of a Turkish project concerning gold extraction and export.
The claim was filed by the Dutch subsidiary, in accordance with the bilateral investment agreements between the Netherlands and Turkey. This was stated in the announcement by Alamos Gold Inc.
It is expected that the claim will exceed $1 billion.
The company expressed hope that the arbitration process before the tribunal will lead to a fair outcome from the impasse.
