As a result of the earthquakes of 6.4 and 5.8 magnitude registered on 20 February in Turkey’s Hatay province, the buildings and structures of Vakıflı, Turkey’s only Armenian village, were significantly damaged. There are no human casualties.
As reported by Armenpress, the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople announced that the bell tower and walls of the village’s Armenian Church of the Holy Mother of God were damaged. The wall of the former hotel also sustained damage.
