‘Forbes’ magazine has included Armenia’s capital Yerevan among 10 tourist destinations that have received less attention, yet are worth visiting. Destinations where one can immerse in nature or culture, away from the tourist crowds:
“It cannot be said that these destinations are unknown to travellers, but they simply deserve much more attention than they receive. From charming, cosmopolitan cities to historic gems and untouched beaches, here are the 10 places you should visit in 2020,” wrote ‘Forbes’.
In addition to Yerevan, these places include Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, Con Dao in Vietnam, Lagos in Nigeria, Mondulkiri in Cambodia, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Santiago in Chile and others.
Yerevan is presented as “the oldest Christian country, one of the most interesting places to visit, with its temple ruins and UNESCO-recognised Christian monasteries.”
“The capital Yerevan is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, and is known for its magnificent view of Ararat, the national symbol of Armenia, as well as its Ararat brandy and wine. Yerevan is called the ‘pink city’ because much of its architecture is made of tuff,” writes ‘Forbes’.
It recommends, like the Kardashians, staying at the Marriott Yerevan hotel, dining at the Dolmama restaurant, which has hosted such famous people as Hillary Clinton, Prince Charles and Gerard Depardieu.
