Garo Paylan, the Armenian deputy from Istanbul in Turkey’s parliament, has brought to the parliamentary agenda the question of whether Turkey’s Armed Forces have a plan for military operations against Armenia. The Armenian deputy from Istanbul submitted a written question to Turkey’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, demanding answers to a series of questions regarding the military plan directed against Armenia, reports regionmonitor.com.
According to the Armenian deputy from Istanbul, the information that appeared in the press regarding the “Altay programming directive and Oghuzturk aerial military operation plan of Turkey’s Armed Forces” has considerably alarmed the people of Armenia.
Taking the above into account, Paylan addressed the following questions to Akar:
- “Does Turkey’s Armed Forces actually possess such a document? Is the plan that has become the subject of speculation still valid?
- On what basis and for what purpose was the aforementioned plan drawn up?
- Will you make efforts to alleviate the anxiety caused among the people of Armenia by these claims and to restore expectations directed at peace?”
