Armenia has taken the 34th place in the “Index of Economic Freedom 2020” published by the Heritage Foundation, improving its position compared to last year (in the 2019 list, Armenia was 47th).
This was announced by the RA Ministry of Economy.
With a score of 70.6, Armenia is included in the group of mostly free countries among 180 countries, whereas last year, with a score of 67.7, it was in the group of moderately free countries.
It was emphasized that Armenia’s economic freedom has remained at a largely stable level over the past 15 years, while in the last two years there has been noticeable growth in the Gross Domestic Product. The government has carried out reforms, is promoting exports and the growth of foreign investment for the purpose of further economic development, but attention must be paid to the effectiveness of the rule of law.
