The Armenian historical houses in Iğdır are disappearing as a result of being left in a neglected state. According to Akunq.net, this was reported by Turkish media outlets.
According to the source, in Iğdır’s Sığlıtlı neighborhood, houses built in the 19th century are living their last days. On the upper part of the window of one of these historical structures, an inscription dated 1908 has been placed.
It is noted that the buildings known under the name “Armenian houses” have turned into piles of garbage, and there were writings on the walls of the houses.
In 2013, the Iğdır Directorate of Culture and Tourism had registered 12 houses with the aim of placing the city’s historical houses under protection, but to this day no work has been undertaken in that direction.
