In 2019, 1994 children were born in the medical institutions of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh, of whom 1015 were boys and 979 were girls. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh.
1698 children were born at the Stepanakert Mother and Child Health Protection Center. Among the regions, the highest number of births was recorded in Martakert with 159 children, followed by Martuni with 88, Hadrut with 36, Shahumyan with 9, and Kashatagh with 4.
It should be noted that 81 children were born in the medical institutions of the Republic of Armenia from Artsakh.
The total birth rate in the Republic of Artsakh during the year was 2073 children, of whom 1058 were boys and 1015 were girls. Of the total births, 31 were twins.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh is carrying out consistent work to improve the building conditions of medical institutions and modernize equipment with state and charitable funds. In 2019, the maternity ward of the Hadrut regional medical association was renovated and equipped with modern medical equipment on a charitable basis. With state funds, the delivery section of the obstetric department of the Mother and Child Health Protection Center, the postpartum wards, and the neonatal department were renovated and furnished with appropriate equipment. In December 2019, the newly constructed building of the Kashatagh regional medical association was put into operation, where a maternity ward equipped with modern medical equipment is functioning.
