A map used in one of the series shown by the American company “Netflix” has caused an uproar in Turkey. There, Armenia is presented with its historical borders, including the present-day territory of Turkey. This is reported by “Ermenihaber”.
The Turkish Center for Maritime and Global Strategies (Turk DEGS) was the first to post about it on its Twitter page. The post noted that in the series about World War II, Turkish territories are presented as Armenian. This was considered a targeting of Turkey’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Turkish pro-government newspaper “Yeni Akit” also addressed the issue. In an article headlined “Shame on Netflix, which is hostile to Turkey. See how it has presented Turkey’s territories,” it is noted that many citizens have expressed dissatisfaction with this manner of action by “Netflix”. They demand that Turkey’s Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) take action and apply the heaviest sanctions against “Netflix”.
