Russian Minister of Emergency Situations, General Yevgeny Zinichev, died together with famous film director Alexander Melnik, whom he was trying to save. The tragedy occurred during interdepartmental exercises in the Arctic, reports RIA Novosti.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, film director Alexander Melnik was present at the exercises held in the Krasnoyarsk region to select locations for a new film.
He fell from a cliff, and Zinichev threw himself to save him. According to eyewitnesses, he struck a rock ledge. Both were transported to hospital with serious injuries, but died in the helicopter.
